A first for me :

But first a couple pictures :
These are Thailand Giant trunks that have been killed back to those stubs , but they are solid and ready for spring :

Here's my Tifton Hardy Palmetto with a nice big Gardenia behind it . The Palmetto has a little trunk going already :

Here's a first for me and that is that I've never seen Trachy inflorescences grow out in February . I don't remember the exact dates for seeing inflorescences but I know it's always been March and more likely in mid to late March . Only male inflorescences are visible now :

Has anyone else seen something unusual this winter heading into spring ?

That's a Tasmanian Tiger pup . Their tails are more fluffy when young and the hair will later fall out . I'm in a program to help them recover their numbers so they can get to a sustainable population . They were found on the mainland in southwest Australia where a small population was found .
I met the requirements to get one after taking a course on them and paying some money . Really cool animals .

Hmm... Perhaps a hybrid? I'm seeing as much regular ol' tabby in that critter as Tasmanian Tiger.

Maybe you could post another pic or two of it?

Every time I see pictures of Tasmanian Tigers it makes me sad to think that they are probably extinct , and were around in the not too distant past . I too am also fascinated when someone comes up with a video of what looks like a live one in more recent times .
That's just Bugs in the picture .He always likes to hang out when I'm outside checking on plants .
His stripes , especially in the previous picture , look a lot like the stripes of a Tasmanian tiger .

Lucas , they are Sabal minors , and they are everywhere . Some are bigger than the parent that spawned them

Congrats on those Trachy inflorescences (so soon) and those Thailand Giants growing. I can only imagine what they look like today as the weather has changed for the better. Fred down in Greenville SC reported seeing Trachycarpus flowering too so looks like a regional thing for you Carolinians.
Nice to see such a nice place Will. Cant wait to see more in the weeks ahead. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Rob .
I had a freeze into the upper20'sF this morning . I'm not seeing anymore cold just 60's-70F for highs and 40's-50'sF for lows . Hopefully that will be it for the freezes . I should expect a frost though at some point into early April .
I think we're out of the woods for any more freezes hopefully . It's looking really mild into mid March .
I just noticed Citrumelo growth which might have gotten zapped this morning . I don't think there was much new growth to get damaged but it has broken dormancy .
