I think all Agave mother plants die after flowering but the pups become new big plants and there's the seed too that spreads around . They are called century plants because of how long it takes them to flower and once flowering the mother plant is spent of all energy .
There may be some varieties that don't die after flowering but I've never heard of any , but I haven't looked hard to find out either .
Some flower stalks go up 30 feet I've heard .
