And you continue to use a false premise. The facts to atribute to him did not happen in the lattet part of his reign. The problem in the latter part of his reign was having a relationship with an undesirable person. Yes, I blame him for his lack of judgement. One must think with his brain and not with another part of his body.

No contemporary European monarch has disgraced themselves or tarnished the image of their monarchy more than Juan Carlos did in the latter part of his reign. The last monarch to doom his own legacy in later life and tarnish the monarchy was Vittorio Emanuele III, who also abdicated in disgrace - and who also left an innocent son to start his reign under a cloud and in damage-control mode.
