King as serial adulterer?
King as a greedy, reckless and unstable person late in his reign?
King as beneficiary of Saudi “gifts” of many millions?
King as dispenser of “opaque” credit cards via a generous Mexican businessman?
King as tax evader?
King as influence peddler?
King as tone-deaf elephant hunter?
King as hypocritical “honorary president” of the World Wildlife Federation?
King who left his Queen and his son and daughter-in-law to navigate the tarnished monarchy’s future and move forward in a near-permanent state of “damage control”?

This list was not at all fun to write. Like many others, I much admired Juan Carlos during most of his reign.
