Well, the Dukes of Alba's lineage is far superior and more important than that of the Princes of Monaco, so the mistake is understandable.
The family of the present Duke of Alba, Martinez de Irujo, received the title marques de Casa-Irujo in 1803, and did not receive the Grandeza de Espana until 1890.
The family of the present Prince of Monaco, received the title duc de Polignac in 1780. Before that they were marquis de Chalencon, and before that vicomtes de Polignac from the early 1400s.
That's game, set, and match for the Prince of Monaco!
Both men have very interesting ancestry in some of their maternal lines, especially several illegitimate lines.
