No criticism lately about her slim constitution. It has stopped or al least it has ceased to be so aggressive. I guess the comparison with the Duchess of Cambridge’s physical constitution – who is much thinner and is not attacked for that in the UK media – or is she? - has contributed to put aside this unbearable bashing.
And on the positive side there is a rising star in the family : the young Princess of Asturias, who did beautifully in her two first speeches and her performances were highly praised by the media and public opinion. That is, no doubt, party due to her mother’s instruction and supervision and everybody knows it.
Allow me a semi-personal anecdote. My boss – who as an average Spaniard, cared a damn about monarchy and the royal family - met the Queen last November during a symposium. At the end of the event, Letizia greeted one by one the speakers and spend some minutes with each of them. When it came to my boss’ turn she was absolutely delighted with her and was very angry with the continuous criticism Letrizia must endure. She told me that in the short distance the Queen changes, she transforms the public image of coldness and severity into a genuine stance of affection and warmth. She did her homeworks well and was perfectly informed about my boss’ activities (very technical) making very smart questions and interacting with sincere interest. Letizia definitively won a new adept if not for the monarchical cause, at least she did for her own cause! A pity she cannot chat with all Spanish people once in a while! R.
I she still unpopular?
After three years of delay, the book will appear next Feb 20th. THe author is Leonardo FAccio, an Argentinian writer and journalist (who also wrote a book about Messi!!! ).
I'm definetively not interested in the publication, but I confess I very much like the cover ! R.
