Of course as his brother's heir, Albert would have had a less stressful life than as UK Prince Consorte.
But his brother Ernest II died at old age for the times, aged 75, after a long well lived life.
Their father died aged 60, and among their uncles, only Leopold future king of Belgium, reached 75 y.old.
So, let's assume that Albert would have died before Ernest and Victoria would just have been the mother of the future reigning duke Edward I, or, more likely, of duke Albert I (after his father), since there was no need to pay hommage to the english Edwards .
