And society always turned a blind eye for a man having an illegitimate child, but were not so generous when a woman had an illegitimate child.
I would like to know Queen Marie's reaction on her son's choice.
Plus, king George died in June 78 and king E-A married December the same year, so the engagement might have been in progress during his father's last days.
Is there any bio on George or Marie where the issue is addressed ?
Was the reaction to Thyra's alleged child any different from more modern times? Wasn't the Prince Consort of the Netherlands accused of doing that during WWII? A King of the Belgians? The reigning Prince of Monaco? Doesn't society now offer acceptance of the situation and then getting on with life?
