Good to hear from you- glad you are well and able to deal with the advancement of Aging. Have a bad knee myself!
Seems like a million years ago- we were certainly under the command of R.E. Wilson (middle name was Ensign)- too funny! “Ring Knocker” Annapolis Graduate- OLD USN Family. His Father had been a Admiral. I dealt with him a lot- he was kind and fare to me. Even bought my BS story at Captains Mast. Skip Scepanski and ran afoul of chief Estes one night. Smoking topside the day they announced no smoking topside. Won’t ever forget that one! It all worked out in my favor!
There is a VA Entitlement for Agent Orange exposure- we were in the area so it IS possible to Be compensated if you are having medical issues relative to exposure. The kicker is the “Jolly J” has to be on a list of ships that DOCKED in country. We DID. We took the Buffalo Hunter we pulled a Missle out of the South China Sea in the Gulf of Tonkin. I have pictures of the missle (Cruise Book). We docked at Camron Bay- I remember this all because I was topside when Mr. Tonto had the Con and accidentally scraped the hull while docking to offload the missle.
I just moved from Bellevue WA to Meridian ID- about to retire- not retread!
Have a great Memorial Day and thanks to ALL of my Shipmates! You are and are the BEST!
