Good job you didn't go swimming in the sea - no lifeguards - the papers full of casualties, all blamed on spending cuts. Mind you there is an abundance of council officers and executives all on very good salaries indeed, they employ large reasonably paid workforces with no money to spend and so nothing for them to do other than to receive complaints from the public about lousy services and migrants littering the streets. Politicians, newly out of university and with no experience, seem to think this country runs solely on services, any money making productive industries have been closed or sold off to foreigners. We wonder why we are struggling to pay our way in the world. Do you think Trump will sort out America's problems, he makes it sound very glum over there. After seeing him on TV I'm often left thinking how lucky and well-off we are over here.
Glad the beer and chips were good, even if expensive. As you say no newspaper wrapping but at least you can get a free plastic bag to put them in. Our government charges us for free Harrods' plastic bags and those in any other shop you go in. They need the money to pay the service industries salaries.
I was a black and tan man myself but the European regulations put paid to that - all lager now. Guinness is ok where you can get it on draught. Many pubs provide Guinness out of bottles and put the glasses on vibrators to create a head on it - tastes awful and goes flat in ten minutes. Wonder if Brexit will sort this for me.
Sorry we didn't catch up, I have been busy with my ageing mother going in and out of hospital on a daily basis - again no NHS budget to give her the care/treatment she needs. Although there seems to be plenty of doctors, nurses and paramedics to diagnose and ferry her to and from hospital.
Unemployment figures are good in this country!
Does British Airways have signs in front of the seats to tell you to wriggle your toes in order to stop blood clots and ensure they can blame you if you suffer in the cramped conditions? Health and safety is very important in this country.
All the best, hope to see you sometime - Tony
