Kalamazoo was a test market for these coffees in the fall of 2005. Kalamazoo was selected because it is relatively close to McDonald's headquarters in the Chicago area and Kalamazoo's large college student population. This menu addition went national about a year later. The coffees tasted good when the test started. Now, however, they taste like crappy McDonald's coffee that has been flavored. I think it has to do with the machines being brand new when the test began. I have noticed the same thing with fountain pop, anywhere. When machines are new, the pop tastes good. After a year or so, it tastes like bottled pop or worse. Maybe someone should invent a solution to clean beverage machines so the product always tastes as good as it does when the machines are new. Alternately, the machines might just need to be cleaned, period. I've also noticed coffee at McDonald's isn't hot anymore. It's practically cold at this point, even when it is served fresh. If you want quick serve, blazing hot coffee, I suggest the self-serve cappuccino at Speedway gas stations, in six flavors, which are rotated out for different flavors.
