Thanks Dave. Looks like it's "Plan A" after all, which is to draw up and fabricate a simplified yoke assembly and pointing bar resembling the drawing on p.97 of Wahl & Toppel which will swivel-mount on the top of my army tripod. Shouldn't be too difficult a job. Pete.
