Other European monarchies do this. I believe the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has been made into a princess in her own right for example.
Although I do like the tradition as it is now, of only women born into The Royal Family are allowed the privilege of using the title Princess along with their first name.
It has been my experience that the vast majority of people, some who follow royalty regularly, are completely unaware of the rules that only women born into the British Royal family are allowed to call themselves princess followed by their first names.
I'm sure you are aware how the press and other people incorrectly call Diana "Princess Diana" and now I see many people doing the same thing for the current Princess of Wales, calling her either Princess Catherine or Princess Kate.
I have even seen people referring to the Duchess of Sussex as Princess Megan! Although strangely nobody refers to the Duchess of Edinburgh as "Princess Sophie."
Just curious to see how people here would feel if this rule was changed.
