I'm so glad she spoke out! I've run into too many people who view The Crown as if it's a documentary!
Indeed, William - and it does make one wonder if that's a calculated effect from producer to writer to audience - a mission to distort and outright lie? Not just about figures long dead, or events long ago, but figures and events within relatively modern or recent times? I think this situation is still unfolding as far as "The Crown" is concerned, given the fact that they have conveniently shifted from posturing that it was always "intended" to be understood as interpretive dramatization to now addidng a disclaimer....no doubt, at the alarm generated by the backlash from persons experienced and directly concerned. Not sure if "disclaimers" can always provide an airtight "exit" for parties concerned in this series, as far as the parties directly concerned in the production of this series, given the fact that when certain episodes aired there was no such "disclaimer". And of course, it being America, "anyone can allege anything" in a court of law such as "malicious intent", "slander", and other related complaints best known to litigators.
