And if Louise wopuldget to ibnherit one of her fathers titelit would be a bit unfair if she would be able to but Princess Beatrice not.
I know both the earldoms are part of the UK nobility/peerages but one is named after an English area and the other after a Scottish one. The river Severn flows through England and Wales. Edward unlike the others in the family does not have a Northern Irish title.
I assume in time Duke of Edinburgh, earl of Wessex and viscount Severn will go together. it would be nice if the other child was to become earl or countess of Forfar and maybe they could get baron Greenwich as well as a new creation.
The current duke of Edinburgh is 99 years old and in a few months turns 100. He just had a surgical procedure done so is recuperating in hospital. With anyone of such a high age that is tricky all we can do is hope he pulls trough and will soon be reunited with HM.
Edward does not hold English and Scottish earldoms. He holds two earldoms of the UKGBNI. With the exception of the Duke of Rothsay, this conceit by some Royals (the Cambridges and now the Wesssexes, at the behest apparently of the Queen, who should know better) to be known by Scottish-sounding titles in Scotland and by English-sounding ones in England is facile. On a different note, I notice with concern that Baron Greenwich remains in hospital.
