says to ALL: *Today is water-day. I have food and wood for the next couple of days, but my water supply is almost gone. Generally, people camp nearer to water, but I'd rather trade the work of getting the water for less chance of being found by somebody following the water. Plus, I need the exercise. One of the basic components of Guild survival gear is a one talu glass bottle, with a screw-on cap and a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry. I take this bottle, stuff some dirty laundry in my backpack, and take my throwing spear and light weapons, leaving the campsite by the no-trail path to the east, a route that uses rocks, exposed roots, fallen branches, kind of like a maze, to get a pasang away from the lean-to without leaving any visible tracks at all.*

says to ALL: *Once am out of the tur grove, I head for the game trail, so I can run. I need the exercise, and this will be 6 days in a row of actually running.*

says to ALL: *I have been running for distance and endurance, but today I feel like stretching it out and then having a kick left for the last 1/4 pasang, pushing myself as hard as I can, and exhausted when I reach the stream. Not really a good practice, to get exhausted, when danger could jump you at any moment, but I am near the manic point in my cycle or something, because I just don't feel any sense of danger here.*

says to ALL: *I fill the water-bottle and drink my fill, then wash my clothes and hang them up to dry. It's a warm, sunny day, with a soft wind from the south. The clothes will dry quickly, while I forage for greens and mushrooms.*

says to ALL: I stopped some hundred foot from the camp, circling around the parameter to make sure none unwanted lurked about before entering our campsite, I leaned my spear on the nearest tree, hanging the squirrels on a low branch, I drop my pack near the spear and take a long drink from my water skin, I had hoped in a few days we would have paga and cooking oil in trade for my medical expertise, walking to the small fire pit I look it over a moment, giving a nod, I add a few more sticks to it, we would eat tonight, I wasnt sure how the others felt about squirrel but they could be tastey if prepared properly

says to ALL: *It is almost like different forests entirely, different ecosystems. Like the PKs wanted us to see how they had created The Forest out of a bunch of little forests. This area has a heavy undergrowth composed almost entirely of small needle trees, compared to the tur forest, where there is almost no undergrowth, compared to the tem forest where there is abundant and diverse undergrowth.*

says to ALL: I grab the squirrels and move through the trees, there was a river nearby, less than half a pasang of the encampment, I stop on its stoney banks and drop the squirrels on the ground, crouching down, I remove the binding fibers from the tails, taking up and and turn the squirrel on its belly and cut through the underside of the tail about ˝” to 1” from the base as it lays on a large stone. I slice through the skin a couple of inches on each side of where the tail was. While holding onto the back legs, I step on the tail and skin that I have opened up in the previous step and firmly pulling straight up on the back legs, as I begin to pull the hide from the body. I work out the back legs. Firmly working my fingers between the muscle and the hide around each leg

says to ALL: I continue to firmly and steadily pull the back legs straight up. As the hide comes to the front legs I pull them out in the same way as the back legs. Working them out with my fingers and a swift tug separates the hide from the feet at around what would be considered the “wrist” area. Once both front legs are out, I continue to pull the back legs until the hide is up to the head and around the neck. up until this point my hands are completely clean. I go ahead and cut off the head. I do this by slicing through the meat around the neck and then snapping the bone with my hands. To remove the entrails I simply pinch the stomach and make a small slit with my knife to open up the body cavity.

says to ALL: I insert two fingers into the slit and run my knife between them (cutting edge up) toward the neck of the squirrel. Doing it this way gives a little clearance so that my knife doesn’t accidentally penetrate any of the entrails such as the bowels or bladder. Continuing this motion through the center of the rib cage all the way through the neck. Then, I simply split the pelvic bone in the center with my knife to open up the entire middle of the squirrel. Finally, it’s time to remove the entrails. There is a membrane that encases the chest cavity. By sweeping my two fingers from the neck down and catching this membrane I pull everything out in one fluid motion.
I inspect the liver to make sure it looks nice and healthy. The liver should always be a rich, deep, solid red color. An off-color or spotted liver might be an indication that the animal has some health problems. I then slice around the “ankles” and “wrists” with my knife and snap off the feet. I keep the heart and liver to prepare with the rest of the squirrel and discard the other entrails. I now have a perfectly dressed squirrel that can be prepared to eat in a variety of ways. On this day, I decided on an open flame spit-roast.

says to ALL: I wash my hands in the river and dress the other five squirrels the exact same way, washing my hands and knife between each one. I wash my knife, returning it to its rightful place, rinsing off each of the now cleaned squirrels and the binding fibers, tying the fibers back around carcasses and heads back to the encampment, only to stop near a stream and cut down two long pieces of cane, through the trees I selected four large sticks that were Y shaped and sturdy

says to ALL: *I had left the tur grove to the south-east and am returning from the north. My other exit path is towards the southwest. From each of these return spots, I have paths worked out, paths that get back to the campsite without leaving much of a trail, routes that uses rocks, exposed roots, fallen branches, and similar non-markable surfaces, kind of like a maze, to get back to the campsite from these three points without leaving any visible tracks.*
A rustling is heard off to Your left, a glimpse seen of tabuk fleeing the vicinity of Your presence.

says to ALL: *Kind of lost in my thoughts, and concentrating on staying on the right track without leaving prints, the tabuk is gone before I can even think about throwing my spear. Still, I didn't really need the meat, as I still have that vulo rooster that I made the captive-girl pluck yesterday, as well as the greens and mushrooms I foraged earlier, while my clothes were drying at the stream where I filled the large water-bottle I am bringing back to camp.*
