says to ALL: *I have more tabuk meat than I will eat before it spoils, so I have been conserving energy, staying close to my campsite. Every day, I make a foray for fresh water. One of the basic components of Guild survival gear is a one talu glass bottle, with a screw-on cap and a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry. There are two streams about equal distance away, so I can alternate trips and have an easier time not leaving a trail. As it is, I have been making the trip in full dark, and it has rained overnight, every night. So I am confident nobody could find my camp without sleens or blind luck.*

says to ALL: *It's about two pasangs to the lake. *I am tall, nearly 6', with long dark hair, about 130 lbs. I'm wearing a gray fur jacket, with most of the fur on the inside, grey being an excellent color to blend in with the shifting shadows that fill the forest. My leather slacks are a similar soft gray color, and I wear sturdy tuchuk boots. My slacks are tucked into my boots, and on the outside of the right boot is a sheathed dagger, 6" blade. The 11" blade quiva that is sheathed on a waist belt near my left hip, has a bosk-bone handle bigger than my hand, so the protruding butt of it would hit pretty hard. The bottom of the quiva sheath has a leather throng, which I have tied around my left thigh to keep the quiva close and quiet, and less of an impediment when I run. In my right hand I am carrying a light throwing spear. The spear has a 5' tem shaft of 1.25" diameter, and a flat acute-triangular dual-edged steel blade, 4" wide at the base, 9" long. I carry this weapon with my right elbow bent, with the center of balance on the spear-shaft is in my hand, with about 30" of spear on either side of my hand. My hand is kind-of outside the spear, with the palm facing towards my left, and the thumb closer to the spear butt, behind me. It's not the greatest position for running, but I have three other ways I can vary it: switching hands of holding my hand below my elbow with the blade behind me. I run at a loping pace, that I can maintain for a very long time without getting too tired, partly for exercise, to tone up for this challenge of living in the Forest.*

says to ALL: *The way it looks to me, all the land to the east is higher. Due-east, north-east, south-east; it's uphill from here. Having scouted this area over the last several days, it looks like the lake is the lowest area in a long plateau that roughly parrallels the coastline. Probably there is bedrock beneath the ground to the east, and sedimentary rock to the west. The land rises inland, and more gradually slopes down toward the sea westward. Several smaller streams flow into the east end of the lake, and one larger stream leaves the lake towards the southwest. I know that stream goes to the sea, as I have followed it back and forth to the coast. I estimate that I am at least 150 pasangs north of the Laurius, and 40 pasangs inland. This early in the year, the lake water is probably decent to drink, but I want to follow the shoreline eastward and get fresher water from one of the incoming streams to the east, and I slow to a walk as I make my way in that direction.*

says to ALL: *I find one of those streams, and fill the bottle, cap it up, strap it on my left shoulder, and completely reverse the spear in my same grip, to now hold it like a walking stick, with the blade high, and my thumb closer to the blade-end. I will actually count the paces, for two major reasons. The obvious one is that I want to rotate the side where I carry the nearly 5-stone weight of the water, which I will do every thousand steps, which I will keep track of by using a particular counting scheme taught by the Guild; a scheme that, by design, occuppying the left side of my brain with that simple repetitive task, so that the right side of my brain, the intuitive, holistic-thinking side can dominate my consciousness. I am literally inducing a state of mind that is in tune with the Forest, not the trees.*
