Re: Newer Little Wizard questions.
Bob: I think you are trying to make more of the streamlined design than actually exists. The streamlined design really did not change the functionality of the lantern whether it was a hot blast or a cold blast lantern. The new lantern still operated under the same air flow principles as the older designs. The design change to streamlined versions reflected the times an to "modernize" the product. It was more of a marketing decision than a change in function of the lantern. Much like changing designs in automobiles. It was the latest style to produce more sales. Streamline really refers to the swept lines of the entire lantern which included the air tubes and reinforcement beading as well as the more simple design of the font. By the way the "E" on your number 10 globe stands for Embury Mfg. Company of Warsaw N.Y. The Embury No.10 globe was the same size as the "Dietz Little Wizard globe and could be used interchangeably in either an Embury Lantern or a Dietz lantern. When Dietz bought Embury in 1953 Dietz used Embury parts that came with the sale so there was a period in the early 1950's that new Dietz lanterns could have Embury parts that fit. Or, your globe was a replacement globe that some previous owner had and it fit. This was not an uncommon occurrence either. In order to get a more specific date of your lantern you should post a picture and let the readers of this forum comment on it.
