Re: Handlan red globe with no # mark
|
Hello Steven: I have that globe marked HANDLAN as well as HANDLAN No 57, but have not seen or owned enough of them to get an idea of which is more common. As for why there are two different markings, perhaps they decided to supply a globe with No 57 on it specifically for the No 57 when that lantern was introduced circa 1946-48. If it was me, I would prefer to put your globe in a Handlan Model 2000, but of course the No 57 lantern has been found with both globes, so there is nothing wrong with using the non-No 57 globe in a No 57 lantern. Certainly the guys who used these lanterns on the job wouldn't care when they were replacing a broken globe, as long as the replacement globe fit correctly.
