I also was going to call this a hot blast, even though the globe removes to the rear like a cold blast. Linda Black's book lists John Henry Stone 1882-1885 Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Kinda far back in time for a newspaper search. If looking for info on 19th century lanterns, I would contact Alan C. Love.
