Lets all put on our thinking caps and apply some common sense to this. If these were factory bent,why are there no other examples shown up, no catalog listings etc.? Why would bending make them show up better to a pilot than an ordinary lantern? Those of us who have worked with, handled, and collected lanterns for years have a seen lanterns bent and contorted in any myriad of ways through normal use and handling or mishandling. I still believe sales hype came into play when the brand name "Air Pilot" was discovered and some assumtions were made with no basis for such a conclusion in an attempt to make this item sound "exotic" thus hopefully increse the end sales price. Those of us who watch the Big Auction see this go on in probably 90% of the items in any catagory. Just look at the number of times the word "Rare" show up in any catagory. GP
