The DIP is the best method I've used. I have a 55 gallon tank setup. I used to use paint remover, now I just DIP it. Most paint just falls off when I lift the lantern out. I use a plastic Brillo pad and a small plastic brush to remove the tough stuff. As for rust the longer you leave it in the more comes off. Harry W
