I was watching Season 3 of "Wanted Dead or Alive" starring Steve McQueen last weekend. The prop department's lantern of choice for that western show appears to be the streamline Dietz Monarch which appears in almost every episode. Every town has a general store with three or four Monarchs hanging from the ceiling, every abandoned barn and mine has a Monarch hanging by the entrance that fires right up, a Monarch globe gets broken in a gun fight, a lit Monarch without a globe is used to sterilze a knife to dig a bullet out of a shoulder, etc. There are a few cold blast lanterns but the Monarch is definitely the star.
