I'm no expert on kerosene but this is my experience. Klean Heat is great stuff, but expensive I use it in my oil lamps and kerosene lanterns that I use in the house when the power goes off. It has low odor when burning and while stored in the lamps and lanterns. Kerosene has an odor when burning and in storage. NOW I have some outside lanterns that burn kerosene very cleanly hardly no smell and I have others that smell like a diesel truck and they are the same model lantern. They arent sooting the globe they just smell. K1 is the clear kerosene at the pump and in the can at the stores as I was told by a heating oil distributor, your just paying extra for the handy can(some are not a gallon anymore). Now where I live I cant get clear K1 at the pump its all the red dyed stuff, I've tried at least 6 different gas stations. I guess I'll just replace the wicks when they get clogged. Hope this helps out. Harry W
