I posted a month ago that blue bird my parakeet passed at age 11. I have another male budgie aged 5 who lives in the bird room with 3 cockatiels. I have the opportunity to get another rescued male parakeet after his best friend passed. The bird rescued was left in a cage with his friend on the streets and my friend rescued them. Is it a good idea to take in my friends parakeet to keep mime company? He seems happy now but I though he might need a new friend of the same feather.

It should be okay. It would give your budgie a friend. Poor thing, left on the street.

I think he'd love a new friend. That's terrible, being left on the street like that.

I think he would love having a buddy! Almost 8 yrs ago, I brought home a budgie that was found where I work. Having tiels and a lovebird I thought he would enjoy having a budgie friend. I bought one from a pet store. They get along great and share a cage. Both are males. i still have them!

Wow, someone just abandoned him on the street? So heartbreaking. I know i couldn’t resist taking him in, either. I miss having a budgie so it’d be extra hard to say no, and budgies generally like having company.
