At first Max was calling for Dorian all the time and now he just looks depressed. I ordered Harrison's food for him and something called recovery just in case. I wanted to hold off on the vet visit until I got Dorian's autopsy. The vet told me it might not come back for another month. Is she kidding me. If I knew it would take this long I would have just paid for the altopsy. I am so scared to take Max to the vet. No. 1. He's terrified 2. I really don't want to grab him at this point. 3. If something is wrong and I have to give him antibiotics I can't grab him everyday for two weeks or so. That would kill him. 4. I found a place that's only 23 miles away. 5. I don't know he'll survive without Dorian. It's like there's no real solution to this. I was looking for a vet that would come over. I can't find one that services this area.

I used to let him out all the time in the bedroom. Now if I go out I shut the cage until I return. I'm trying to spend at least 6 hours with him each day in the room. That's not easy. I have a very small bedroom. At first I thought that it might be alright. But today he just looked so depressed.
I want to change his diet. He's bee eating avicaqkes more than anything. I try to sprinkle as much Harrison's mash as possible. I want to start giving him more Harrison's. I spoke with their customer service and asked if I can put the mash over some spaghetti and they made a big thing saying no. I feel so sorry for him.

Keep doing all you can. Play aradio for him, some classical music or NPR, when you're gone, so he doesn't feel ao alone in the quiet. Talk to him when you're home, and soothe him as much as you can.

I hope the results come back quicker than a month. Was she doing a tox screen or something?

Feed him whatever he will eat. I wonder why you can't feed mash on spaghetti? As long as you don't leave it with him too long, it shouldn't be bad.

I know. The key is to keep him eating. They are not rushing with the results that's for sure. Even thou he's not a people's bird, I love him just as much as Dorian just in a different way.

I wonder if you played some tiel recordings or whistlings at times during the day if it would help.

I'm with seesthru on the Harrisons. I don't see any reason why you can't put it on spaghetti as long as it's not left out for no more than a couple of hours. Also, Avicakes are very nutritious so if Max is eating them, that's good. The Lefeber website says that Avi-Cake nutrition matches that of most pelleted diets and can be fed as a main meal.

I've never had any untamed tiels of all the ones that I've had over the years.

I have. They are very finicky. They get scared easy. You just want to tell them that it's ok and you won't harm him. I was never good at training birds. The ones that were people oriented were that way from the start. My goal with Max is to get him to not be terrified and when he sees me to know he's safe and that he'll get treats.
