I just checked the death toll here in Florida, and as of now, it stands at 120, and North Carolina at 5.
Seeing the damage it has done, I was afraid the figures would go even higher. The devastation it has caused blows my mind. The flooding is happening here in my County as well as others.
I look at the pictures in South Florida, the loss of so many homes and businesses, and it just overwhelms me. I can't even begin to know what it has done to those it devastated! Plus, amid the wreckage, to have lost someone you love. My heart aches so deeply for them. My prayers are with each of them that they will be able to rebuild their lives with strength, and the hope they will find comfort and peace in the coming months and years.

You can't ever recover from something as catastrophic as Ian. I went to my bank's ATM last night and they set it up where you can donate to the American Red Cross, which I did. I grew up in Mass. and in 1986 my sister's area flooded from the Connecticut River. It does that every so many years. It has nowhere to go so it heads to creeks and tributaries which then overflow. Well, one of the tributaries lay near my sister's street. Her house came close to floating away but it didn't. They had to brace it up with jacks until it was all repaired. My point is that they lost everything in the cellar. My 2 nieces had bedrooms down there. The American Red Cross stepped up to the plate and gave them vouchers for a hotel stay plus vouchers to replace the material things.

I agree with you, I can't see how anyone can fully recover from something like that. Im sorry that happened to your family.
