I can still remember when my vet told me Spikey had cataracts and I knew surgery was not a choice. His sight got worse till he was totally blind.. Spikey had also had the stroke and arthritis so now without his sight I understood why he was falling so much. Not sure if Michael flys but Spikey did and couldn’t do that without his site without hitting something. When I made the decision to get the play yard for him it was one of my best choices. It took him awhile to know where everything was but now I don,t move anything and he knows where everything is. He gets his exercise as the playyard is bigger then his previous cage and I don’t have to worry about him falling and hurting himself. Sometimes when I go to change his food when I go to put back in the playyard he Is going in circles looking for it. I feel your pain but I am sure Michael will adjust. He will let you hold him again as I have the ritual every night with Spikey where I hold him, kiss him and tell him how much I love him..and unlike my other finds he has never really liked being held that much. They know we love them and are there for them. They are awesome little guys. I am sorry this is so long..but please know you are not alone in this and you and Michael will go through a learning process but you will come out of it even closer to him if that is possible. Hang in there we are all here to help support you.
