That 'treatment' is the result of an arrangement the family made themselves. It's not a government issue. Apparently they strive to have a very compact and cost efficient royal house. The country maybe large but the population is small. I am sure Sonja agrees or has suggested it herself. She's well in her eighties. All of her colleagues on the continent have stepped back except in Sweden. Which in fact continuous to surprise me. Let her grieve and find enjoyment in the causes close to her hart at her own pace. Sverre Magnus is studying abroad so the arrangements for him might change in due time. I don' t expect MM to fully function as Queen consort any time soon.

After the death of her husband Queen Sonja has lost her style of Her Majesty and is now no longer a part of the Royal House. How do Norwegians feel about this treatment of a woman who for nearly six decades has been their First Lady?
