Good question. I believe this new 'rule' was made up at the time. No precedent for it. In the Netherlands they also awkwardly limited the HRH titles to the Royal House and to the main line. The Kings brother, Prince Constantijn is still an HRH (because his mother was Queen) and member of the House but his children are count and countess who do not belong to the Royal House. I guess in every monarchy they are dealing with it differently but with the same aim: to limit the number or royals but not all royal families seem to be equally successful. 😉

Question: what is the origin of this "house rule" which states that a prince of the blood and son of a king will not bear the style of "HRH" or even "HH"? Something surely not in force in any other reigning European monarchy. Previous MessagePrevious Message
I wonder whether it is now time to elevate Prince Sverre Magnus to HRH and thereby to the Royal House. Clearly he will be supporting his father and sister. I always thought it was an odd decision at the time but perhaps it can be reversed now? If it is what he wants of course because it will have some impact on his life.
