That is correct. The Greek government were required to pay a fraction of the market value of the estate. (The Tatoi lands were originally purchased in the 1860s by King George I with funds from Denmark). Because the Greek government used money originally intended as a fund for natural disasters to pay King Constantine, the couple decided to use the proceeds to create their own foundation to assist Greeks who had suffered loss due to a natural disaster.
