Were Karen and Bror distant cousins?
They were second cousins. Karen's grandmother Dagmar Dinesen was a sister of Bror's grandmother Countess Thyra Krag-Juel-Vind-Frijs. Thyra's husband, Bror's grandfather Count Christian Emil K-J-V-F, served as prime minister in the years 1865-1870.
