I recall reading that the decision to auction the late Prince Henrik's Asian jade collection and his African collection was decided upon during the prince's lifetime with his participation. Family members chose pieces they were interested in keeping and the remainder was to go to auction. I don't remember if it said where the proceeds were to go to.

The main worry among those who wish QM2 well is that this close friend will now feel the need to 'kiss & tell' which might lead to some unwanted revelations .
The fact that the Royal Court recently released the news that a large part of Prince Henrik's personal collection of jade items (which were subject to a special royal exhibition in Kolding in 2017) is to be auctioned of, may also not sit well with the aforenamed close friend.... http://kongehuset.dk/nyheder/prins-henriks-samlinger-paa-auktion
