Re: Prince Michael of Greece
I just ordered this... Https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001MDF4TG/ref=ox_sc_act_image_5?smid=A3F9RG8498JSW1&psc=1
Does anybody have a copy of an old VANITY FAIR magazine (I believe that was the periodical) in which he wrote an article on royal marriages? It dates from about 10 years ago, and I believe the cover article was on the subject of the young royals. At the time, Prince William was only in his 20's, not yet the Duke of Cambridge, and far from marriage.
I vaguely recall reading Prince Michael's explanation of why royals have traditionally been expected to marry their *own kind*, dynastically and religiously. The latter is my prime interest, here. He said something to the effect that "Given the strong disapproval and discouragement of interfaith unions by the Catholic Church, the royal houses of Austria, Spain, Portugal, and Italy have traditionally intermarried ... The more tolerant Protestant Orthodox churches have been more accepting of interfaith unions. So Orthodox Russia, later followed by the Orthodox Balkans, intermarried with the Protestant houses of Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, and the Netherlands."
This is not the precise wording, of course (since I'm relying only on memory). I was wondering if anybody still had a copy of it, and could provide me with information on what exactly His Royal Highness said.
Thanks in advance.
