: If I am getting my dates right, Queen
: Christina became queen regnant at 6 and
: would have had the (still) longest reign if
: she had not abdicated. But, of course, she
: does and thus does not.
:
: I believe that is correct.
Yes, if she had reigned until her death in 1689, that would have meant 57 years on the throne.
If Gustaf IV Adolf had reigned until his death in 1837, he would have reigned for 45 years. On the other hand, if he had not been deposed, he would not have spent his final years as a penniless alcoholic, and might have lived longer...

: HM King C XVI G was quite a young man (27?)
: at
: the time of his accession so the longest
: lived monarch in Sweden is no doubt a
: milestone. I wonder who was the youngest
: monarch to succeed to the Swedish
:
: I think that was Karl XI, who was 4 years
: old whe he inherited the throne in 1660. He
: died in 1697.
:
: I think Carl Gustaf was even younger than
: Denmark's queen upon her accession and the
: claim, at the time,i.e., 'the worlds
: youngest queen in the world's oldest
: monarchy'.

: Very interesting. Has he broken any other
: records as well? Or will he soon?
:
: He was the first Swedish monarch in more
: than 4 centuries to marry a commoner who was
: not even a noblewoman.
:
: However he has a fair way to go before
: claiming the longest-lived record given that
: his 2 immediate predecessors both lived into
: their 90s!
