A lot of backbreaking effort was put into making both fields playable (along with people cutting weeds and picking up trash, etc). It was beyond frustrating to see it all washed away not longer after all the hard work was done.
I spent at least two hours or more on Saturdays last year (after one of the many heavy rains) dragging it, trying to get rid of the gullies and ridges to get it ready for coed. I know Sully has spent way more time (countless hours over the years) getting it as playable as possible for the mens league.
Josh, you are right. That drainage needs to be fixed by the people who promised to do so or adding dirt will be a total waste of time, effort and money. Actually, Sully has said that all along himself. Hopefully, they are able to follow up on that very soon and get the parking lot sloped away from the field and drainage fixed. That would be greatly appreciated!
It can be a really nice field. A guy from one our new coed teams play in Manayunk before and he actually said compared to what they played on, playing on Heels field is like they went to Cooperstown (his words, not mine).
In the meantime, I guess we just keep dragging it and make it as playable as possible.
BTW, as I alluded to before, there are others who volunteer their time and effort to work on that field (and other fields for the womens league) getting it ready and they should be thanked for their efforts.
