Is 2020 over yet?

This year has been crazier than I am and that's bad...LOL Amazing we all are still kicking and doing the best we can with what we've been dealt.

What's gone crazy in your world so far in 2020?
Here's mine:
1)Had to replace roof due to win/hale damage, contactor not do a good job and not fix areas needing their attention. Wouldn't rehire, was a referral. Maybe roof will last longer than me...LOL
2)My heat unit broke, needed costly part replaced
3)Had a main water pipe under house break flooding under house, costly repair
4)Seals around toilets start leaking, to be repaired tomorrow along with flush/tank parts replaced.
5)Hot water heater started leaning last night, being fixed tomorrow (w/be costly)
6)Need brake pads put on car, gonna have to wait
7)Need root canal and crown, temp w/have to hold on a while longer, no ins.
8)Had to get COVID test for pre-surgery in Nov. Negative test....that's good news.

It's all just stuff, it's part of being a home owner and I'm blessed to have one so I'll just suck it up and bite the bullet. laugh with me, after all, it's 2020.

It can't get over fast enough for me. With Nascar doing their stupid Shi#, COVID-19, and Hurricanes, I have had enough of the year 2020. Come on 2021, I am waiting on You.

I think the majority agree with you Pap. I'm almost afraid to see what 2021 has in store for us though. As the saying goes, "Be careful what you ask for, it could be worse"! I pray not as we enter the unknown and continued shut down and destruction of this country going into 2021. Daytona has already said there will be limited fans allowed at the Feb race. Here we go again.

I just want my life back, be able to hugs my children and grands, do things together and the kids get back in school. One thing for sure, God is in charge and he sees and knows the direction we will go.

My list gets bigger.
My newest flat screen TV has lost the picture, gone dark. Was about 6 years old. dang China crap, Samsung. Has sound....LOL This all needs to STOP!!!

Here's mine
1. Lost mom in March, no funeral or viewing .. basically just me, Tom, Mark, Moriah and my 2 grandchildren. Grave service was by the road. Not even up to the gravesite.
2. Still having issues with no real grieving process. I find myself crying when I see something on TV or when I take a shower I "talk to myself " and then I start to cry.
The other night I had a dream my mom called me and I answered the phone. She didn't call me by my name but I knew it was her voice I said,
Mom, I love you !" and she just said " Is this home? " I said yes. Then I asked her if she was with dad and she laughed but didn't answer me. it was very strange to say the least. Her birthday was 11/23 so I don't know if I subconsiously thought about her and then I heard her voice but it was clearly her. She didn't talk directly to me though which depressed me. I had wrote about my feelings in my journal the day before her birthday and wished I could talk to her one more time so
I don't know if i just "wished" her to call me or what. Very strange. The dream caught me off guard. SO many other things I could have said to her !!
3. Still havent sold her house. It's been on the market since Sept. Have to keep dropping the price. Very distressing ! I just want it gone. So please pray someone buys it soon. Tom and I have worked and stressed and tried selling things since Spring and we're so tired of it all. In order to clear enough from the sale of the house I need to get at least $48.000 for it. If not I will lose all the money I've paid into taxes, insurance, and somehow will have to come up with realtor and lawyer fees. Then I will have to turn the house over to Medicaid. Can you believe mom was in the nursing home for just a year and a month and she accrued over $45,000 in expenses !! That's nuts !!! What happens to people who are in nursing homes for YEARS !!!
4. Had to replace our furnace the day before Thanksgiving. It wasn't an outrageous price. It cost $1.900 and I called them in the morning and they were her in 10 min and got our furnace replaced in less than 3 hrs. it will cost another 3,500to add air onto this furnace but right now our air was fixed this summer so unless it goes out we're not adding that just yet.
5. Missing our close knit family gatherings. But too risky for us to get together with my existing conditions and Tom's cancer. Someday....
Well, the weather here seems to be turning. We have a weather advisory for tonight and tomorrow. Maybe significant snow . They are estimating 3-8". That's a broad span so who knows what we will actually get !! I got all my groceries and we are ready to hunker down if needed.
That's all I can think of right off the top of my head but I am thankful we had the money for the furnace replacement and the weather held out so it wasn't cold when they replaced it. (It was raining actually ) It could be worse. It could always be worse !!!

You're had a really rough time of it this year and I feel for you. I hope and pray your mom's house sells soon and you get what you wan t for it to get by. Are you selling it yourselves? If so, might want to do a Zillow or something like that and use a company that takes 3% but no listing fee. Sell it "as is" so you can get a decent contract. How we sold my parents home, cash, as is, had them sign all inspection, survey and etc, waivers in contract prior to closing, went fast.

Hope things settle down so you can grieve for your loss. I'm sure that was your mom telling you she's fine and not to worry. She was letting you know it al,l be be over soon.

I have realtor. The house has to go as a cash offer d/t all the repairs needed. Or who doesn't require things to be up to code as much. A lot of it is cosmetic but there is a lot needed. It has a good neighborhood, a nice yard, good school system, close to hospital ( within walking distance ) ,close to grocery stores and fast food, etc... We've had numerous walk throughs but they all say priced too high. Dropped the price twice and will have to price lower again but the lawyer says I need at least 48,000 to clear enough to pay realtor, lawyer, and then we send a letter to tell her credit cards there is no money and they just don't get anything. It's such a headache. If I walk away, I get nothing I've put into it like taxes and insurance. The virus hasn't helped and also the cost of building materials has doubled d/t not being able to get things like before the pandemic. Just my luck, the wrong time...
I hope you're right about my mom. I sure could use a pull from up above if you know what I mean.
Sorry about your TV. Did it have a warranty? 6 yrs doesn't seem to be too terribly old for a new TV.

I hate you're having such a difficult time with your mom's estate. Just a shame that everyone who never paid a dime into the property gets most of it. State, Local Govt. Health Care facilities, and such. Life's hard work should stay and no Govt. agency or facilities should be able to take it or benefit from it. Makes me so mad. Medicare/Medicaid should cover in home health care as well as nursing homes based on reasonable fees just like they do with hospitals.

As for the TV, most only come with a very short warranty a year or less unless you buy extended warranty and even those have limited terms and conditions. Most TV's are cheaper now for basic HD and not so large screens that it's cheaper to replace and that's their plan. Nothing made today last for years like it did before everything was made over seas but made in the USA.I still have two tube TV's that are 15-20 years old but not hooked to cable. I have a little one my mom had with rabbit ears and tin foil on tip of antenna. It's a crazy time we live in. Stay strong and sure hope things ease up for you soon. Spring is a better time to buy/sell but also interest rates are low now and not sure they will not go up in the Spring. Good luck

Wow that's a lot..I just had a root canal too and know how much it costs and we have dental. Get crown in a few weeks. Guess all the other repairs are better where they are needed than you needing medical help. After tomorrow only 30 days till we are out of this year and hopefully 2021 is way better.

Just for the root canal they want $1,700 then I have to go to dentist to get mold for crown and pay out of pocket for that too. They said about $5K for it to cost. That's crazy. Chew on one side like a HoBo...LOL

I pray it's a light at the end of this dark tunnel and 2021 brings us peace, life liberty and freedom from evils that are lurking around us. Shiprek, can you do exorcisms?? I think we have a buch that need it done....LOL
