Must be a chance of Whatmuff playing for City U21s against us, as he's been recalled since Monday but City are yet to go on their tour.

Ben insists he's retired, so it'd have to either be Cian O'Shea or Goodness Gospel-Eze

There's been talk that we're only going with Whatmuff and Wogan as the keepers this season; maybe Wogan's injury may make us re-think that.

I recall an interview in the 90s, i think it was when Newcastle Utd got rid of their reserve team (and reduced the size of their squad). Kevin Keegan stated that all the coaching staff were registered as players (including himself) as a matter of course...whilst it was a light hearted interview, the administrative process was sound.

I would like to imagine, that whilst Ben is now a coach, that he is also registered as a player for that just in case instance.

Incorrect, otherwise the 96/97 lot wouldn't have been able to play in Flynn's testimonial a few years back.

It's a friendly; he doesn't need to be registered with the EFL to participate in it.

But that, for the sake of a friendly retirement game, isn't an indication that he'll be registered as a player with the EFL and available for selection in a competitive fixture, which was the origin of the discussion.
