A fascinating insight into the emotions of being a football club owner. A very open interview between the Peterborough owner and our very own Mr Mark Stott.

Thoroughly enjoyable and refreshing to see and hear our owner talking candidly and having a laugh. Should be compulsory viewing for the (royal) blue and white army. I was laughing out loud at times, even when he said about Jimbo, and I love Jim Gannon. I seem to remember saying at the time that Jim was let go that it was Mark Stott's club and we had to wait and see before we started slagging him off. Well I have been increasingly pleased over time by Mark Stott, his actions and appointments have been the absolute bedrock of our resurgence and it was great to hear him say that he won't be at County forever but he is committed to another 5 years with his ambition being to get us into the premier league. Mark Stott has not put a significant foot wrong as County's owner and long may he reign as, IMHO, County's GOAT owner (in my 60+ years as a County fan anyway). The Bradford fan and Posh's owner weren't too shabby either, excellent podcast, for County and football fans. Watch it if you hjaven't already, you will not be disappointed or my name isn't Orson Cartier

For anyone unlikely/unable/etc to listen, here's the highlights:
- Bradford home game pissed him off based on the way to played first half
- Asked if he sees himself still running the club in 15 years and said he initially intended on staying for the first 7 years and being done, but he and Simon Wilson are currently writing the plan for the next 5 years, so he's definitely in for the next 5
- Sees us getting to the Premier League
- Talks about the close relationship with City through Simon Wilson
- Original plan was £25m investment over 7 years; already past that. £29m as of June this year
- Currently going through purchase of academy site
- Applying to go Cat 2 for Academy but need a dome at the training ground; not happy about it but will do it
- 17k shirts sold last year
- Will cost £21m for 3k additional seats in the ground based on plans
- Popside will only be done if club reaches the Premier League
- Wage bill is down from last season
- Pye could have gone for a couple of million in the summer; hoping promotion this season will see value go up
- Will have to start trading players in next year or two
- Joint decision on any managerial changes, but Wilson's 'intel' leads it
- Described Jim as 'terrifying' (in a light-hearted tone) and described the decision to let him go as a hard but right decision based on the direction Simon Wilson wanted to take it
- Rusk did 'ok' but it didn't work out
- Thinks Wilson has got it right '9 times out of 10' on recruitment
- Wouldn't want to do it without Wilson (when asked what would happen if Wilson was poached) and Gavin Bailey
- Still confident we'll win League One, despite those around him saying 'playoffs at best'
- Then says he shouldn't say we'll win it, but we'll be up there
- 90% of fans love what they're doing; 10% still wish we were in NLN with a different manager
- Reiterates commitment for next 5 years but talks about future ownership change/investment, but would have to be the right owner
- Gets involved in budgets and sponsorships (gets friends involved to sponsor club)
- Doesn't get involved day-to-day; doesn't want to be overbearing, particularly for DC
- Fan question: "Proudest moment?" - Winning the NL and also the academy
- Mentions Jim again and comments on him screaming (at Ben in particular) during the COVID season
- 6 full-time staff now around 200
- 3 players who stand out throughout his time at the club; Ben, Paddy (described as the most influential player he's signed) and Louie Barry (honourable mentions to Sarce and MSH)
- Mentions the chance to sign Barry permanently after first loan
- Stott not on social media and doesn't read fan forums; Wilson is the same. Stott says when Jim went, it was pretty horrific (to read).
- Won't be spending big in January; would take Barry back on loan
- Hopes he doesn't regret his openness on the pod (jokingly)
- Darragh says 'no refunds' on Mothersille (again joking)Smart-arse pedant

Excellent interview. Mr Stott reminds me very much of myself as chief of Cartier Industries.
I’ve sponsored a player Szymon Czubik, ex County who went on to play for FC Humber. When he scored the stadium announcer shouted “Goalscorer for Humber, Szymon Czubik sponsored by Cartier Industries of Stockport!!” This caused bemusement I the crowd as when they Googled Cartier Industries all that came up was inane waffle about Pot Noodles and men living in a bin shed. Also…I made no money as I forgot to work out how to. Still. The good folk of Humber were confused so I consider the £50 investment as a success!STILL have ‘(Orson) Cartier Industries (Stockport)’ T-shirts left. 5 sizes…£10 adults…£5 kids. Can’t be arsed posting/delivering so pm me & I’ll meet you in a pub if possible!
