The previous record was £800k for Ian Moore, so it has to be more than that. There's talk of it being close to £1m.

Yes. I will try and avoid a repeat of my "incident" when we signed Ian Moore...

Staying with my brother on the Isle of Man we were all a bit drunk at the end of the night, so I rang Clubcall to listen to Megson talking about it. But when it ended, in my inebriated state I put the phone handset down on the fax machine and went to bed. This meant that Megson continued to merrily talk about Ian Moore for the next seven hours or so while everyone was asleep. Obviously racking up a bill of £190...

And it was the reason why at a subsequent stag do they got me a shirt with "0891 County" on the back...

My father was a County fan like my grandfather before :-)

Ha ha County Club Call - sadly that number is emblazoned on my brain too. It was the twitter of its time, although the news wasnt really that current and up to date. And they took ages to tell you anything on the call, drawing it out so the call cost you a weeks wages!

Would be great to listen to some of the recordings from back then - someone must know a way of doing this.......
