Frustrating afternoon

We had 14 attempts on goal / they had 3 and no corners
It seemed only a matter of time before we scored but the ball would not run kindly for us
Wootton could easily have had a hat trick
Just a scrappy game that county might have won on another day
The red card was stupid

The chance for wootton in the first half, he has to round the keeper. Easy chance at this level. MSH has got to bury that header. Then in the second half Cosgrove practically misses an open net. Woots also missed a header at the far post.

Wootton couldn't hit a cows bum with a shovel. Good striker in league two or non league, sorry but but in my opinion not a league one striker. In saying that, his work rate is very good. So maybe he could play as a number 10 along side a proper number nine.

Wootton is a proper number 9.

It's genuinely terrifying how often this has to be pointed out.

Obviously it'd be nice if he chipped in with a few more goals. But in terms of players who can offer what he does as well as adding more goals, they're top end Championship/PL quality players and are priced accordingly.

It's 2025 now and the game has moved on.

Would it be nice if he weighed in with more goals? Yes.

Is he vital to how we play? Also yes.

Would we be a much worse team without him? Yes once again.

What are you going on about,when Barry and Tanto played only last season we didn't need wootton then did we,in fact it was the best football for years at county,did you go Cambridge

And as I've said elsewhere, our style of play has evolved since then. Everything we've done this season has been built round having Wootton as the point striker. And we've done pretty bloody well out of it. Yes it would be nice if he chipped in with more goals here and there. But players who can do what he does for the team as well as adding more goals are likely to be top end Championship or PL quality players and that will be reflected in their price.

And no, I didn't go to Cambridge so had to rely on the stream, although I'm not sure how that's relevant when I was talking about how we've been playing across the whole season.

Clearly at the moment DC feels Wootton is a better fit for us than Andresson. There's no way the level he's been scoring at is anywhere near the level we're at right now, and the club have been quite clear he's one for the future. Plus he's a completely different type of forward to Wootton, meaning we'd have to alter our style of play, which would be madness when we're sitting 4th having picked up 19 points from our last 8 games.

Agree. If he had another 4-5 goals to his name we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Even Chally said he should have had a hat-trick yesterday.

We all know what Woots brings. Superb at holding the ball up and bringing players into play. He did a brilliant assist for Cosgrove yesterday sending two defenders the wrong way. Should of resulted in a goal.

He doesn’t score enough goals though. If he does add this to his game Championship clubs will come knocking. When others are scoring goals and we are winning nobody cares.
