How did the scapegoats play?

I didn't see last night's game due to a family gathering.

The usual suspects usually appear after a defeat to have a pop at a couple of players that bleed County blue.

That has happened (yet).

Can I assume that the scapegoats played well on this occasion?

Why don't you name the usual suspects then,so they can reply to you,I know I'm one that gets in your head.
I'll say again,I don't think wootton is anywhere good enough.

Wootton isn't the problem. He needs support.

He's being used as an outlet to hold up the ball, bring others into play and he gets kicked and battered to death, with no support from his team mates or the ref.

If you want a forward who can do all that + score 20 goals a season, it will be very expensive.

Collectively the team was doing well, whilst Louie Barry was with us. That's who we are missing and the player we've got to try and find a replacement for.

I also think the rest of the team need to step up, particularly the midfield and take more responsibility for taking shots on and stop this sideways / backward passing that we saw against Mansfield. The quality of the crossing and delivery is poor, that really needs to improve too.

100% agree RH. Especially on Barry carrying us ( we have scored 37 and Barry with goals and assists contributed to 21 goals )
We need two more strikers.

We saw last Saturday, that Wootton played a lovely pass to Collar to score. He definitely needs a partner, as well as a similar player to Wootton, on the bench to replace him when Woots becomes tired. The lack of forward options is affecting the squad. We have only had Woots and Tanto all season with Mellon continually injured and Stretts out on loan. Now with Tanto injured and Mellon returning to Burnley we only have Woots and Stretton. If one or both get injured in training prior to the Palace game, who plays upfront. Addai? As they are saying it’s too soon for Andresson!

Mellon's not officially been recalled yet, although you'd imagine itl be imminent.

Also, whether Stretton gets injured or not, he won't be playing against Palace as he's cup-tied.

We've played 2 games without barry,didn't stop tanto scoring last season playing the same roll.
Tanto hasn't really been given a chance this season,mostly 10-15 mins off the bench.

Barry has been kept Tanto out of the side, but I don't think Tanto's form has been great this season and now he's injured thanks to that clown goalkeeper at Rotherham.

I do think you need someone up front with Wootton, feeding off his knock downs and hold up play, supporting him. A decent striker is badly required in Jan, IMHO.

Hopefully we can get Tanto back fit soon, but we need another option. We are light up front.

He's right about goals per game; exactly 1 in 4 (8 in 32) last season and 1 in 4.16 (6 in 25) this season.

Assists he's right about for this season, but last season he's wrong.

Wootton got 7 assists last season in the league; 8 overall.

Same number of assists in the league as Sarcevic and Southam-Hales and only beaten by Bailey and Touray.

Short version is we were fairly toothless and a few looked tired, Ben saved a penalty but it could be argued he didn't get out quickly enough for one of the goals, Collar scored a good goal but other than that we didn't really look like scoring.

The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert.

Good assesment.

Need to forget louie barry now.. he was brilliant, but will never get another one!

In need of pace.. to get us up the field quicker and also need to stop smashing it in the air to Wooton..

Some players haven't got to grips with league yet.or shown up!
But would have settled for this at half way point.. not much to be scared of in this league

If the summer signings had been on form we would be higher up this league now. Only Barry and Bate have excelled.

Think sometimes we need to look back 6yrs and think where we are now. Some players may not be performing, but club bigger than any player and our trajectory has been brilliant.

Agree on all points made. We aren’t too up and down to make POs IMVHO. Not enough goals in us without Barry, but hopefully Tanto will step in and up.

It is frustrating as we are v close to being a PO team and as you say, there is nothing to fear in this division.
