What is the situation with Powell and Mellon? Injured or out of favour?

Can’t wait for Powell, for me our most technically gifted player. Was also really excited by the Michael Mellon signing at the beginning of the season. Real shame it is not seemingly working out.

He didn't do himself any favours when coming back from injury he took a whack on the shin, avoiding his postage stamp shin pads which didn't go down well with DC as he was out for a few more weeks. I don't think it's going to work for him to be fair.

Yes, daft move by all accounts. Although, there seems to be a lot of players wearing the credit card style shin pads. I’m not sure I get it. Surely must increase the risk of injury

Players find shinguards restrictive and uncomfortable. Tackling has more or less disappeared from the game, so a whack on the shins happens less now. Its a trade off. When I was playing sunday league 30 years ago, I never went on the pitch without a full Sondico shinguard and ankle protection combo as it gave me confidence. With today’s tikky tacky quick pace stuff, I probably wouldn’t bother.

Ha ha - yes, I remember that well. Had the Neville Southall sponsored Sondicos. Had the plastic splints down the fronts, and discs on the ankles 😂

Powell was injured at Lincoln in October and is out until late January.

Mellon is out of favour and is likely being recalled by Burnley in January.

He was playing well up this season until that point; played a fantastic ball for Tanto's goal in the game he thrn got injured in too.

Played for Burnley u21s on the 17th and scored directly from a free kick.
