Away allocation

Personally I think it would be much better if we allocated the Railway End to away fans. To meet regulations allocate just one block of the pop side to away fans. I get why we did it but walks ups and new fans are not going to get a good experience in the RE. An extra block in the pop side for home fans is all we need. I also think it will create a better atmosphere.

Time for a re-think by the club.

Disagree.

As long as there is demand for tickets from home fans, we should look to accommodate them first before we give more away tickets than we're required to.

If we give the Railway End plus the required seats in the Popside, you're giving away fans around 1.7k (1,354 in the Railway and 400-500 in the Popside) compared to the 844 they get now, potentially locking ~900 home fans out.

If the Railway was shut every home game then I could underatand it but right now the club are making the right call.

What are the capacities for each stand at EP?

We are in breach of EFL rules according to Bolton.

“Bolton Wanderers can confirm that the club will not be receiving a further allocation of tickets for our upcoming trip to Stockport County on Saturday 9th November.

The club has been in communication with both Stockport and the EFL regarding the 844 tickets allocated to Wanderers fans next month at Edgeley Park, with the club doing everything possible to increase this number - with the full allocation selling out within minutes of going on sale.

Despite this allocation of 844 tickets not meeting the requirements in line with EFL Ticketing Regulations, the club received confirmation on Thursday morning that we will not be receiving a further allocation that would meet the minimum threshold of tickets that is required to distribute to away teams.

The club are disappointed with the outcome and have formally raised the matter with the EFL.

Lastly, we would like to thank Wanderers supporters who will be part of the away end at Stockport next month – your unwavering support does not go unnoticed.”

If we were in breach of EFL rules you'd imagine the same accusation would have come from one of the other clubs who'd received the same allocation over the last couple of years.

Which would suggest they're talking absolute rubbish.

I doubt we are; we've given no more than 844 tickets to any team this season so such a specific number must have come from calculations that the club have made.

Perhaps we're stretching the rukes slightly, but there's not a chance the club are knowingly breaching them.

1.7k would be an average allocation in this division.

I wouldn’t pay £5 to sit in the RE. It’s possibly the worst stand in the division. It’s a really poor experience for walk up’s and first time supporters. I think that’s why it’s half empty every game.

When the new stand is built it will be a game changer and although we don’t fill the RE currently I am confident we’ll be filling the new RE when built . The experience will be so much better.

You might not, but given we're selling tickets in there for almost every game, enough are.

We should cater for our home fans before we cater to away fans.

It's only empty if nobody is sat in it and it's closed. If there are home fans in there then there is demand for it; that demand should take precedence over accommodating more away fans.

I would describe it as empty. There’s what 200 people in there ? Put them in the popside and they would get a better view and keep dry if it was to rain.

I can see where you're coming from, but either way we'd still have to give one block of the Pop to away fans regardless.

I think you're greatly overestimating the quality of the view from parts of the Pop Side as well.

We got to keep the railway end for home fans, once developed it'll be much more appealing for supporters to sit there, fill it ..players will get a better buzz attacking the railway end as they do currently the cheadle end..

Totally agree. We cant fill the R.E with our supporters. The ones that sit in there could fill the 2 blocks in the Together Stand. Are we only gonna really give the likes of Bolton..Wrexham or Brum just 2 blocks ? Get the money coming in to help fund the new developments.

We can't use both blocks in the Popside; we'd still have to give the end one to away fans as we have to provide a minimum of 200 covered seats.

You only gain 400-500 seats in the Popside and give away 1300 in the Railway, meaning there's 800-900 less tickets for home fans.

We shouldn't be risking turning home fans away to give a bigger allocation to away fans.

We have sold out the RE against Bolton and Wrexham although I have heard their fans have snapped up some of those tickets in the RE.

They might need to put some extra coppers in the RE.

Also what doesn’t help is the number of 3pm games we are losing. We have had four 3 pm games on a Saturday this season and now 5 Tuesday night games. It impacts the attendance with youngsters and people travelling long distances not able to go.

I thought it had unofficially been mentioned that one reason for away fans being in the pop side was a police reason. After a review police were concerned with fans mixing on hardcastle. Having fans come out at the back of the pop side allows police to control the flow.

In addition I believe you can use seats used for
segregation towards numbers so there's an extra 100 or so on the the 800-900 away ticket sales and I believe as we give tickets to away officials in the main stand they can also be used (so let's say another 100 or so) add all that up and it makes roughly 1100 which I would argue is the amount required for the 10percent away allocation.

There's possibly Police advice on it too, but you could easily enough shepherd the away fans out of the Railway End in the same direction.
