Lack lustre

2nd best for lots of the game and really need a breaking up midfielder as they cut through us so easily. Onwards and upwards but not a great day at the office today.

In my opinion, based on the last couple of games:
It is unclear who will be our 2nd most prolific goal scorer after Louie. I’d like to see Tanto in similar goal-scoring form to last season and, although he’s scored a few this term, I’d prefer Woots gets in position to poach a more tap-ins, so he takes a few defenders with him to create space (he does that well in open-play).
I wouldn’t describe Norwood as poor yesterday - he didn’t stand out as being quite as good as in earlier games.
I think the performances of Collar, Camps, Diamond & Fevrier will benefit from the confidence coming from scoring (or scoring again). Adaramola is a bit raw, but he’ll be great by mid-season. Stick with Addai.

I love Chally but one fair area of criticism is his poor utilisation of subs.

It is, but then again his subs have paid off several times already this season.

Cambridge: Fevrier on in the 73rd minute, assists Wootton for the second on 76.

Blackpool: Fevrier on in the 70th minute, scores on 84. Tanto on in the 87th minutes, scores on 90+4

Accrington: Barry on in the 79th minute, does most of the work for Camps' goal on 82 and scores himself on 90+1

I would have agreed with you in the past - Barrow at home first game back in FL being a classic example. However, he seemed to have got much better last 18 months but today was right back to leaving things too late when it was obvious what was coming.

3 simultaneous substitutions breaks up the balance and rhythm of the team. He continues with it but it rarely makes a difference! Too late today. Obviously we need more back room staff to tell him the time

Norwood

One of the worst performances I've seen from a County player in a long, long time. Every pass either straight to a red shirt, their GK or straight into touch. One back pass shot out of play for a corner and every one of his corners was awful....oh and a good chance fired 15 yards wide.

Utter, utter dogsh1t and he stayed on the pitch 'til the 91st minute whilst our main threat was withdrawn again with 20+ minutes to go. I can only surmise that Chally was happy with a draw at that point against a side we should have beaten comfortably who hadn't scored for 7+ hours. I await his interview with interest although suspect that difficult questions won't be asked.

The same standard of refereeing as normal for this level. It makes the game a lottery.

Oh and Corey Brinksmanship - I don't like him. His poor distribution throughout the game was hard to watch and one instance led to the dodgy penalty.

Callum Camps take a bow - magnificent throughout.

The hyperbole and vitriol around what was admittedly a poor performance from Norwood.

The Addai criticism is odd too; he did very little wrong today.

We were bang average and should have won, just like at Mansfield. We're also 5 games in with 11 points and are unbeaten.

There's nothing to be that angry about.

Camps was magnificent.

The constant withdrawal of our main threat when the game is there to be won is very odd..... and it's really annoying him too.

I think the reason Louie Barry keeps being withdrawn is due to the long time he was out with injury and is not yet ready for a full ninety minutes , so it’s better to have LB for an hour rather than not at all !
He is our star player without doubt .

Challinor's said a number of times about building up players' minutes; Barry's come back from a full hamstring tear, so it'd be reckless to throw him in for 90 minutes regularly until he's absolutely ready. Just because he's looking pissed off when he does come off doesn't mean it's the wrong call. We brought two more than capable players on at the time of the subs too, Fevrier's had a big impact already this season and Diamond had a good showing at Accrington last week.

It's fine to prefer Ben over Addai too, but Addai's already shown that his distribution is very, very good so calling it 'poor' is silly. Sure, he takes risks at the back and I imagine it may cost us a goal or two this season, but his long range passing up to Wootton was a key part of our success in the first 3 games.

Norwood was poor but has been really good in every other game he's played so far.

It wasn't our day today but it's not going to be our day a lot more often than many have gotten used to in recent years. We're going to draw and lose more games than we have been doing.

Fair points Nick . Chally also had an off day with the tardiness of his subs IMVHO. I will slot this one as two points dropped alongside the Mansfield game. However, this shows you what potential we have that we are looking at these games in this way. One more point than we got away against these last season when we were champs!

Unnecessary risks is poor imo. Why bother when it invites pressure on the defence? Numerous instances today and in previous games.

Some people may prefer the jeopardy; I personally don't

I agree yeti, keepers faffing about around the penalty area gives me the jitters.
Watched the EFL highlights on tv a few weeks ago and
4 goals were conceded from goal keepers passing errors.

It is intentional to draw their press on him and create space. You might not like it but is a conscious decision by the management team to embrace the jeopardy.

It will look horrendous when it ivies wrong but if the benefits outweigh the odd blunder then we should be doing it.

They are understandably looking after Louie. He is back from a horrendous injury. Why would you flog him for 90 mins and risk him getting injured again.

Totally agree with him coming off around 60-70min mark for the time being.

Agree on Barry I also think it’s odd. He’s the spark you need in games like that. I am starting to think Villa have asked he doesn’t play a full 90. Has he ever completed a full 90 minutes for us?

Norwood was disappointing today. Wouldn’t say he was terrible but will probably be dropped to the bench if Bate is fit. That’s how it will be this season with the squad we have. Have an off day and you lose your place in the team.

Agreed; we've missed Bate massively, even this early into his time at the club. Camps has been great too, so if one needs to give way then I'd want it to be Norwood for Orient next week.

Sadly it was a mistimed tackle by a centre forward. He shouldn’t have even been back there in any case. His position when we are defending should be on the centre spot

Disappointing performance. We could of done with a croasdale breaking up play in midfield. We got worse after the subs. The shape was not right and the midfield was overrun in the final 20 mins. Lots to learn from. Never a pen though.

However it’s been a fantastic start to the season.
