Major change in the way we attack?Archived Message

I was pleased on all fronts yesterday from the courtyard onwards but what pleased me almost as much as pulling Wrexham’s pants down was the way we did it. DC has got the team playing direct and at speed and it made a world of difference as it is so much easier to score when we play that way. None of our goals came from labouriously working the ball to the touchline while their defence organises itself for a cross. Instead, our first goal was a lump from Ben, two touches from Collar and Tanto tucked it in. You couldn’t plan Tanto’s second goal. Third was Barry driving in between their fullback and centre backs. Fourth was another lump from Ben from which we immediately lost control 60 yards out but then won the second ball and rather than look to work the ball along the touchline we played the angles and quickly switched the ball into their area for Tanto’s third. For Paddy’s goal Barry crossed early rather than playing out to MSH on the touchline.
