These clubs have been playing out little private invitation tournaments, some of those matches held at Wembley, for the past few seasons , all are guilty Arsenal Spurs Ac Milan Inter Liverpool Chelsea, so the whole shebang comes as no surprise. Most of the PL teams are european anyway, hardly any English or British and Irish players play for them anyhow.
But what sanctions can the FA PL and EFL actually enforce - Kick out of the league? hmmm they will have left anyway. Stop them playing in the FA Cup - hmmm there will be an ESL cup. Possibly the only way they can enforce sanctions is to ban players from playing in the world cup.. hmmmm.
Kerry Packer circus springs to mind.
I think its already a done deal and these clubs will move on regardless of anyones attempts to intervene.
As far as I am concerned - goodbye and good riddance. And when the breakaway does happen , I hope they revamp the champions league by reverting back to champions only.
