You seem to want to tell me how I should feel about the poppy, because you support its cause, yet you don't want to be told how you should feel towards taking the knee, because you don't support its cause. You're completely blinded by poppy-induced defensiveness to see that your argument mirrors the one you're arguing against.
Whether you like it or not, the poppy is political to some and they therefore choose not to wear it. If you genuinely wanted no political gestures at a football match then you'd not want the poppy either. What you actually want is no political gestures that you don't agree with.
