People such as Florence Nightingale, William Wilberforce. Some modern ones such as Tom Hunter.
Don't get me wrong. I have huge admiration for people such as Nelson, Wellington, Monty, but I'm maturely minded enough to know that these guys weren't "nice" people. They weren't philanthropists of charitable people. They literally killed people. But they deserve noting for their achievements. That can take place in books, museums, or indeed appropriate locations.
For example, I don't think it necessary or appropriate to have a statue of Nelson in London. But I would consider it appropriate to have one at Portsmouth where Victory is.
