They're a weird concept, really, in the modern era. No matter how well written, or how well designed, they're hardly value for money. And these days they don't provide anything that can't be got elsewhere, of higher quality, in more detail and via better delivery systems.
Obviously, I'm biased, but I've always thought programmes were, well, a bit sh*t, even when I was buying them myself, and even before the internet.
It's a fan thing isn't it? Bought out of habit, or as a souvenir, more than as a decent magazine to read. What are they now - 3 quid or so? Look at the kind of magazine you can get for that price in the newsagent.
